Netvibes purposes to its users to create their personal space, in order to aggregate the news they want to receive, with RSS and Atom technology support. Created with an Ajax-bases start page, the webpage can be organized through tabs and modules, and let its users to chose the type of content they want to have (news, Gmail messages, web search, local weather forecast…)

Mappr is an interactive space for exploring different places, based on the pictures people take and put on Flickr. Through the tags system used on Flickr, Mappr organize the feeds according to their location.

Weather Bonk offers to view real time weather information on a map, based on personal weather stations and national weather services. The contents are very detailed and take in account precisions such as microclimates. Moreover, users can have visual observation from a given location when they click on the webcams they can found on the website.     

Web philosophy

"The Web was originally designed to be mashed up," says Google Web developer Aaron Boodman, the 27-year-old creator of a program called Greasemonkey that makes it easy to create and use mash-ups. "The technology is finally growing up and making it possible."
According to businessweek.com, that's why mash-ups, named after hip-hop mixes of two or more songs, are starting to rock. Chicagocrime.org overlays local crime stats onto Google Maps so you can see what crimes were committed recently in your neighborhood. Another site syncs Yahoo! Inc.'s (YHOO ) real-time traffic data with Google Maps. Book Burro notices when you're shopping at an online bookstore such as Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN ), then taps into several other stores to show price comparisons.

Mash-ups portend big changes for software companies, Web sites, and everyone online. It's a way to broacast, by the web, everything you want. So the great deal is that you can speak about anything.

Historicaly, Podcasting is a portmanteau of Apple's "iPod" and "broadcasting". At least, it is a method of publishing files to the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed and receive new files automatically by subscription, usually at no cost. It first became popular in late 2004, used largely for audio files.

Everyone, frustrated by his boring grey life, can be the tomorrow brand new star of the Net with this technology. It's of course a mirage, build up on this nowadays hedonist philosophy, where the celebrity is the main objective on all entire lives. That is, from my point of view, a bit useless, but I guess that it will improve our lives.

Therefore, there are some interesting podcast, but they are made by professionnals. So except the streaming innovations, it is not so far from classical media, as for example radio or TV.

What does it mean ?
In a simple way, my philosophy of the wiki is that this kind of tools is one of the best ways to create a real space of learning. I think that to be together we have to learn the rules of community. So, the wiki let people share, listen, and be receptive to others.
